Of Vampires and Norwegian Goth Metal

Lots of questions about these two tracks from the Nov. 11 show, so here's a little more info and some linkage!

Sirenia - First We Take Manhattan
(Leonard Cohen cover, from Sirenian Shores)

Sirenia are a goth-metal group from Stavanger, Norway. They have recorded four studio albums since coming together in 2001, and have just finished working on their fifth album, The 13th Floor, which is due out in January.

Fright Ranger - Oh Oh Oh Sexy Vampire

"Oh Oh Oh Sexy Vampire" is a 2007 eurodance single, masterminded by the indie label Disko Warp Records. (You can check out Disko Warp and listen to some of their other tracks on Myspace.)

The mix heard on RENegade was the JUSTiNB Radio remix - watch the ultra-cute video below!



Hahaha, half the comments on the video are about Twilight ^_^

Heh. So, the first RENegade was a little bit improvisational after some technical difficulties. Ah well, c'est la vie! I hope that our 12-2am listeners got some entertainment out of my plight. (Three cheers for my totally random rambling while I tried to get the left-hand CD player to work - alas, to no avail).

After my live show, I put on a pre-recorded episode of the Time Travellers Union to kick off the overnighter playlist, and it occurred to me afterwards that if people thought that show was live, they would probably assume I was a total bonehead because the hosts right "after" me didn't have a technical breakdown. Ah ha ha. For the record, THAT EPISODE OF TTU WASN'T LIVE :P

Although, that show is pretty funny, so check it out when it IS live, which is on Thursday nights!
